In order to create a safe, friendly, Christian environment for participants at the monthly dances.  Dance Rules have been established.

Students must be in 7th or 8th grade and be a parishioner of St. Thomas More Parish. In addition, students enrolled at St. Charles Borromeo Elementary School, St. Leo the Great Elementary School, or Mary Queen of Peace Elementary School are permitted to attend the dances. All students’ names must appear on the current class list.

The following items are not permitted: tobacco products, alcohol, drugs, aerosol sprays or weapons of any kind (Items may be confiscated and may not be returned). Cell phones and pagers are not permitted to be used in the dance, however may be kept in a purse or pocket as long as they are not being used and in sight. Students needing to make an emergency call should consult a chaperone.

No fighting or profanity.

The use of basketballs, footballs or any sports equipment is not permitted during the dance (this includes hanging on basketball rims or nets).

Jackets, purses, hats/visors and bags are not permitted to be worn at the dance and must be checked in the coat room. Items that are deemed inappropriate or dangerous will also need to be checked. St. Thomas More Church/Youth Group is not responsible for items that are lost or stolen.

No inappropriate displays of affection, this includes inappropriate forms of dancing.

Proper attire required. No pocket chains, no low-cut tops, no crop tops, no midriffs, straps of tops must be 1” thick, no bare shoulders, pants must be pulled to waist. Shorts and skirts must be of an appropriate length. The Youth Minister determines appropriateness of clothing and his decisions are final. Anyone wearing inappropriate clothing will be asked to call home for different clothes or will be given a t-shirt to wear to be returned by the end of the dance.

The dance begins at 7:30pm and ends at 10pm. Students are not permitted to leave early, unless picked-up by a parent. Parents should be in the parking lot by 9:55pm to ensure a speedy pick-up.

Breaking of any of these rules may result in expulsion from the dance, suspension from future dances or other legal actions. All decisions regarding discipline by Youth Minister are final.

St. Thomas More Junior High Youth Group and its staff and the Diocese of Cleveland and its Bishop assume no responsibility for the actions of any individual at this event and will not be held responsible for injury or loss of life as a result of participation in this event. Students will be help responsible for their own actions and reactions and may be subject to discipline from Youth Minister and/or the Brooklyn Police Department.

St. Thomas More Junior High Youth Group reserves the right to amend the rules based on need with permission from the Youth Minister.
