During a time of celebration, it is important to pause and give thanks

St. Thomas More Parish has a lot to be thankful for.  On Sunday, June 24, the community came together to celebrate their patron saint whose feast was observed on June 22.

Before pulling the grand prize drawing ticket, Fr. Bill ask those present to pause and give thanks for the parish.  Father also recalled the dedication of Sr. Elaine Theresa Burrows, SIW who passed away this past year. The festival was one of Sister’s favorite events.  She normally spent weeks

before the festival selling hundreds of tickets.  During the festival, Sister helped staff the raffle tent. A picture of Sister from a past festival was placed in the raffle booth as a reminder of her love of the day.

While rain came through the area during the day, the parish grounds were dry as a slightly overcast sky provided a great atmosphere for the festival.  Live entertainment was provided by The Figs while a DJ filled in the gaps.  Hundreds of festival-goers filled the parish grounds for most of the day enjoying food, beverages and other favorite festival treats.
