Living rosary focuses on St. John Paul II’s Luminous Mysteries

The parish’s spiritual life committee once again hosted the annual living rosary on Thursday, Oct 5.  In a departure from previous living rosaries, the focus of the evening was The Holy Land Rosary, a video which has aired on the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN).  As the congregation recited the prayers along with the video; candles, held by parishioners, were lit for each prayer. Following each decade, the candles were placed on a Marian altar set up on the side of the church’s sanctuary space.

This year’s Living Rosary reflected on the luminous mysteries which were added to the devotion in 2002 by St. John Paul II.  The luminous mysteries are:

  1. The Baptism in the Jordan
  2. Self-Manifestation at the Wedding Feast at Cana
  3. Proclamation of the Kingdom of God
  4. Transfiguration
  5. Institution of the Eucharist
