The corner office is Father Mike's weekly bulletin column.
So are you tired of me saying it yet? “The Easter Message of PEACE continues!” As we talked about last week, being more than halfway to Pentecost, we continue in the peace of Christ. This is a VERY big thing and one I don’t think we really realize. If it was my choice, I would change the liturgy to include a much longer period of time for the Sign of Peace. I might even let the Deacon loose on the assembly and I know that he would be “yacking it up!” with everyone. Because that is what someone excited about the faith does – they share that peace and love!
The Gospel of John has Jesus talking about the love of the Father and how Jesus loves us – ALL! We in return need to follow that commandment … “love one another as I love you.” There you go! Both the First and Second Readings echo that call to love, so the message is simple, spread the love and peace of Christ to others.
Happy Mother’s day to all our moms, foster-moms, aunts, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, and “fathers serving as moms” – keep spreading the love!
Fr. Mike
75th Anniversary thoughts:
Moving into May, the month of Mary, I do want to bring your attention to the small table near the Mary & Joseph shrine. I put a number of rosaries on the table for the taking, exchanging, and sharing. If you have a rosary at home not being fruitful, bring it up to share. If you need a rosary or need to gift a rosary to someone, feel free to take a rosary. This exchanging is all a part of our sharing our resources and being good stewards.
Speaking of Good Stewardship, I want to keep thanking all of the volunteers and generous benefactors who make it possible for STM to continue. It is no secret that there are a lot of necessary repairs needed and bills that need to be paid, but it is only through your help and that of the benefactors that we can keep things moving forward. You’ll see the repairs and construction starting the next few weeks, so be CAUTIOUS, as we (continue to) Build for Our Future, here at St. Thomas More.
