The parish’s 75th anniversary is not just a one-day affair. Members of the 75th anniversary committee have coined the phrase a Summer of Celebration (and beyond). Events have been taking place since after Easter to bring parishioners together to celebrate this special milestone.

This past Tuesday, June 22, was the feast of St. Thomas More. The evening began with the parish’s normal Tuesday evening Mass followed by an ice cream social outside the main doors of the church. Thanks to the fine folks at Honey Hut, who also happen to be parishioners, churchgoers enjoyed cups of chocolate, cookies and cream and their signature honey pecan ice cream.

The month of July has two special events planned. First, parishioners are welcome to celebrate an outdoor Mass at 11am on Sunday, July 11. On July 24, Bishop Edward Malesic will celebrate 4:30pm Mass. Plans are still being settled, however, some type of social with Bishop will follow. Bishop Malesic has been looking forward to meeting the faithful of the diocese and visits a parish or two every weekend.

The Summer of Celebration will culminate with a large gathering on Sunday, Aug. 1. Following the 11am Mass, all are welcome to join fellow parishioners for food, entertainment, and a chance to win the 75th anniversary raffle. Tickets are on sale after all Masses in the main vestibule and at the rectory. There are only 750 tickets being sold at a cost of $75 per ticket. The grand prize is $7500 followed by prizes of $2021 and $1946.

While the summer may come to end in a few months, the fun will continue. A homecoming weekend for current and former parishioners and school alumni is being planned for Sept. 24, 25, and 26.

Check the website calendar for more events as they are confirmed.
