From the corner office for July 4, 2021

From the corner office is Father Mike's weekly bulletin column...

My grace is sufficient for you…” Okay – let’s all collectively EXHALE! The week that we have had at the rectory and even in the school has been one of craziness. If you stand in one place too long they’ll paint right over you, the furniture will be moved or rearranged, or you’ll blink and things will have changed. There is a whole lot happening on the campus, and I’m sure in all of our lives, as well. Have you noticed it is July already and we’ll be looking at the Oktoberfest before too long? The readings this week invite us to EXHALE…and take in the Holy Spirit. Know that to all of us, like St. Paul, God tells us all – “My grace is sufficient for you…” The readings of both Ezekiel and Mark’s Gospel present passages that could show a bit of frustration. This week can be seen as a “bridge week” connecting us forward, as we just came off of a few weeks of talking about our faith. Take time to exhale and let’s enjoy the Holy Spirit entering into our lives.

75th Anniversary thoughts:

Okay, at this point, as I mentioned above - - It’s JULY! I know that we can celebrate the 4th of July this weekend with the picnics and socials; but moreover, we continue to celebrate the year of our 75th Anniversary. The various events have been great gatherings, and nothing but people having fun and getting together. I often talk about “Growing closer to God, as we grow closer to each other”. This may be a simple or cliché line, but these were some of my goals last fall. Growing closer to our God and each other, as a parish. The fun part was the third goal. My hope is that you’ll all engage and enjoy these different events, realizing the hard work put into them, as well as the fun and growth that we are looking to get out of the various events. We cannot let this 75th Anniversary year pass without a whole lot of fun ~ we all earned it! Keep an eye and ear open to the next few weeks, as the events continue to approach. We’re having fun, we’re growing closer to God and each other! That’s a great thing, no matter how we look at it – thanks!
