Spanish program to begin at St. Thomas More School

Students attending St. Thomas More School in the fall will once again have the opportunity to learn a foreign language. The school has partnered with Viva Spanish, a third-party organization that provides Spanish instruction at non-public schools.

When asked about the Spanish program, principal Nicole Dykstra replied, “It is important for our students to become global citizens. Studying foreign languages will increase their exposure and awareness not just to the language, but also to the culture of other ethnic groups. Moreover, this benefits our students as they will grow in appreciation of other backgrounds.”

According to their website, “Since 1996, Viva Spanish! Language Programs has been working with K-8 non-public schools bringing quality teachers, effective curriculum and worry-free programming.”

Students in grades K through 5 will meet twice a week with an instructor, while grades 6-8 will meet 3 times. More information about the program is available on their website and will be available in the fall near the beginning of the academic year (Sept. 7).
