From the corner office for June 5, 2022

From the Corner Office is Father Mike's weekly bulletin column.

“Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love.” [ !!!] This is from the Gospel Acclamation, and as we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost, we look for that desire and the sacred fire to burn in our hearts. This time after the Ascension has the Apostles and disciples together in the upper room, waiting on “The Advocate” and still together as the rest of the Jewish people celebrated the Feast of Pentecost. We remember that the Jewish Feast of Pentecost celebrates the covenant of God with Noah, right? Well, in fine Christian manner, there is the “next step” of continuing in an even greater way – with the coming of “The Advocate” the Holy Spirit!

The First Reading from Acts has St. Luke’s view of the time in the upper room. St. Paul in the Second Readingspeaks of the Holy Spirit and how we are all called and baptized by the Holy Spirit. Even in the Gospel of John, the main points are spoken from Jesus. St. John has Jesus telling us, “Peace be with you.” and “Receive the Holy Spirit.” Two very important lines to take forward and ALWAYS remember. We take the peace of Christ and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Throw your shoulders back and remember these two ever important lines – “Peace be with you!” and “Receive the Holy Spirit!”

From the Pastor’s Desk:

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful…” even this first part of this (so) important Gospel Acclamationis a prayer to be prayed. I know that I often pray it as I deal with all the fun that happens between the Corner Office and the Holy Altar. It is our calling as Christians and Catholics to let the Holy Spirit inspire us, guide us, reassure us, and comfort us.

The continual “call out” for servers and liturgical ministers will always be high on my list of requests. I thank those who continue to donate for the church parish Maintenance Fund and that of the School Maintenance & Scholarship Fund. These are two very important funds that will keep us in the game of growing our parish community. Please be sure that your refrigerator has the Summer of Fun list, as there are still more near the church doors. This will be a big summer, and will continue to grow after all the hard work and fun we completed last year. May I say (again…) “Peace be with you.” and “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
