This past weekend, parishioners of all ages enjoyed the first outdoor Mass of the Summer of Fun. While a short sprinkle accompanied the opening song and Introductory Rites, the water gave way to an afternoon of faith and fellowship.

View pictures from the Mass and cookout above this story.

Friar Johnpaul was the main celebrant and focused his homily on the idea of looking ahead as he told the story of his first car, a blue and white Chevy Belair. We are constantly looking the rearview mirror he noted, which is good for driving, but not for one’s faith. He reminded the congregation that Jesus is calling everyone to look ahead and leave behind those things the obstruct them from following him.

Following Mass, parishioners enjoyed hotdogs, chips and beverages while taking some time to sit and catch up with each other. Many used their camping/lawn chairs while others sat the newly built picnic tables near the north side of the property.

A big thank you to those who helped setup, grill, made bakery and more!

The next event on our parish calendar is the annual Summer Festival on July 24. Raffle tickets for the festival are available at the doors to the church, rectory and on the parish website. Tickets are $5 each and the grand prize is $10,000. Many of the parish’s ministry groups are being asked to help with our various food stations and games. Be on the lookout for a request for more assistance in the coming weeks.
