From the corner office for July 3, 2022

From the Corner Office is Father Mike's weekly bulletin column.

This Fourteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time, has us moving into action. Recall last week we talked about our mission (our Mission from God), and now we are all moving forward.

The First Reading from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah, talks of the spread of prosperity and even of God as our mother and us as her nurslings! Saint Paul in his letter to the Galatians tells us all to rejoice in the marks of Jesus, as we find the peace and mercy of God. The Gospel of Luke gives us this passage, unique to St. Luke, which is the sending of the “seventy-two others”. Consider this as we sit in our prayer time this week – we are all part of these seventy-two and over two thousand years of those sent forward into the community. Yes, we have talked about the communion of saints, and how there are the small “s” and large “S” saints. We will all be counted among the saints, but if we continue to deepen our relationship with God, we just might be given that large “S”, like St. Francis, St. Paul, St. Theresa, and St. Clare, and St. …

From the Pastor’s Desk:

Thank you to all of those who celebrated our patron’s day last Wednesday. St. Thomas More probably was shaking his head when there were a few drops falling on Sunday, but ever so glad when the hot dogs finally hit the grill. The honey bees helped on Wednesday with the ice cream social and the St. Lawrence Ministry of Grilling helped with Sunday’s celebration. Thank you to all! Hopefully, you’ll have more than a few raffle ticket sheets to sell at your family picnics… Keep an eye open as we’ll be continuing with more fun events, so stay tuned. Let’s all continue to pray and work together for patience and peace within our families, community and world.
