From the corner office for Sept 25, 2022

From the Corner Office is Father Mike's weekly bulletin column.

The Twenty-Sixth Sunday of Ordinary Time brings us readings that leave us with the questions of “Who do we step over?” and “How do we treat others?” The First Reading from the Book of Amos starts out with the statement, “Woe to the complacent…” then talks of the rich and comfortable being the first to go into exile. This then moves into St. Paul urging Timothy and the others to “Compete well for the faith” and “…to keep the commandment without stain or reproach…” Again, watching who we step over and how we treat others… Jesus then in the Gospel tells the story of the rich man and Lazarus. St. Luke has Jesus challenging the Pharisees to look at how they treat others, and who they may be stepping over for their own good. Think about our week and who we interact with each day. Now think about those you treat poorly by complaining or talking bad behind their back, even turning a blind eye to the poor or someone who could use your help. Do we live out the commandment (s) without stain? Again - “…who do we step over?” and “…how do we treat others?”

From the Pastor’s Desk:

Yet, another busy weekend up here on the campus. Yes, contractors have been working through the week. The coaches have been helping their student-athletes to continue to improve their team skills. The students celebrated Grandparent’s day with Mass and a celebration. The busy week leads into the busy weekend with sports, a wedding, and the start of preparation for the sacrament of Confirmation. This would all not be possible with the dedicated volunteers, coaches, teachers, catechists, administrators, and benefactors. Yes, I know that people have been forced out of their usual parking spots, schedules, or whatever ~ but isn’t it nice to have the parish campus be busy? Having a busy campus may not be all that bad here at St. Thomas More…
