From the Corner Office for Oct. 22, 2023

From the Corner Office is Father Mike’s weekly bulletin column.

The “Hot Button” topics of today, were the same painfully “Hot Button” topics of the time of Jesus. So often we say that these readings do not relate to us and aren’t relevant. But I have to ask – are the readings and lessons not relevant to us OR are we not finding how we need these readings and lessons in our lives? The reading for this the Twenty-Ninth Sunday of Ordinary Time show us the way we are to be in this world, and yet also in God’s world. The heavenly world of God’s glory. We have Jesus talking of the taxes to the Pharisees disciples and really breaks it down to this world and God’s world. We need to look more closely at these two worlds and see which one we choose, but remember – one is limited and one is eternal…

From the Pastor’s Desk:

The time of Eucharistic Adoration last Sunday was a gifted time, one which I am surprised is not shared by more. Quiet time with Jesus in the most Holy Eucharist. We may remember in our younger days, sitting as school students or maybe as a couple or family at special times of the year. Simply sitting with Jesus, and listening with our hearts. These next few months we will be looking for more opportunities for events to become “More Aware” of our devotion to the Holy Eucharist through times of prayer, talks, discussions, and (yes…) more prayer time with Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. The hope/prayer is that you, your family, and friends will also not only become “More Aware” but “More Engaged” in the Holy Eucharist!
