From the Corner Office for Oct. 29, 2023

From the Corner Office is Father Mike’s weekly bulletin column.

This week, after the “build-up” of the “Hot Button” items, we see Jesus bringing it all down to two simple directives, “two laws to live by”. Love God and Love your neighbor…

The First Reading from the Book of Exodus directs us on the love of others, even to the point of pointing out the “aliens”… Now for the Sci-Fi person, this is not to be misleading, but means, those foreigners to our circle of friends… St. Paul encourages us to imitate those among them who are there imitating Christ as our ultimate example. This past week, we read and heard about directives that would be seen (then and now…) as counter-cultural. Think about how we are called to imitate Jesus and the Saint, and let’s all pray for that strength to do so, in our lives.

From the Pastor’s Desk:

Talking about imitating Jesus and the Saints works out well for us all as this week not only will we be celebrating “All the Saints” but also “All the Souls. We are all so lucky to have Saints (yes, big “S”) and saints (small “s”) who we all know and love. I say, love – in the present tense, as to loved – in the past tense. This is a special time in the Church year so that we can continue to imitate and love all of those who have gone before us into God’s banquet.
