From the Corner Office is Father Mike’s weekly bulletin column.
Tell me, “Have you had a good epiphany lately?” Wouldn’t that be great to actually have a really “Great Epiphany!” about something, such as your life, (maybe) your spouse or family, then how about (even) your faith? Imagine a nice epiphany about your relationship with God. Today’s celebration is about the revealing of Jesus to the Gentiles, or even simply the world. The Three Kings have come to give little Jesus gifts and praise him as a new born king. The reading from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah continues to lead us through this Christmas season, as the Responsorial Psalm speaks of this adoration, and St. Paul writes to the Ephesians of how Christ is revealed to us all! The gospel passage from St. Matthew presents us with the story of the Magi, the jealous King Herod, and a simple scene of the Holy Family. Do you recall how the Liturgical Year ended with the Feast of Christ the King? Imagine, starting and ending with celebrations of the kingship of Christ. The two bookends present us all with a whole lot of time and space to have our own epiphanies of our faith – let’s pay attention this year!

From the Pastor’s Desk:
For many people and our Greek and Orthodox sisters and brothers, this Feast of the Epiphany of Lord is their “Christmas”. The day that they celebrate the position of the baby Jesus in our salvation history. We may see it as the week on the calendar when the Christmas decorations all come down, the nativity set is packed back in the attic or closet, and the final visits are wrapped up for a bit. BUT, we need to really keep this Christmas season going. We need to continue into the year with our joy, our giving/sharing, and our looking/wondering of our faith. Last week we had placed out the January /February Word Among Us booklets and a Matthew Kelly book titled Holy Moments – A Handbook for the Rest of Your Life. These are both resources, made possible by a nice benefactor, so that we can continue to grow in our faith. YES, they are FREEeeeeee! So help yourself and then pass them along to other friends and family members…
