From the corner office for Jan. 28, 2024

From the corner office if Father Mike's weekly column.

We hear in the First Reading and the Gospel passage from St. Mark about teaching, and in the case of Jesus, “…for he taught them as one having authority…” Even St. Paul is preaching to the people of Corinth (and us…), that we should be acting and concerned with pleasing the Lord. Let’s look at those teachers and prophets in our lives who have been teaching us the love of God, and how to love others. Remember that whole “Love God, love our neighbor!” thing? Looking at those prophets and teachers this Catholic Schools Week would be a special homework assignment, and say a prayer for them as well!

From the Pastor’s Desk:

NEWS FLASH: The work on the heat system started this week, and a big thank you goes to the Women’s Guild and the few Anonymous Donors who have already started donations to help pay for the bill. The estimate, so far is in the $15-20-thousand dollar range… So anything will be a huge help!

This being Catholic Schools Week, I want to thank all of our administrators, teachers, staff, and volunteers of our day school and PSR program. On behalf of the parish families, and community – we can’t thank you enough, as you have a special ministry – THANKS! There also will need a special THANK YOU to our parents, as well for being the “First Teachers, of these children!” Mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, and all – thank you!

The Mardi Gras after dinner tickets are still available through the rectory or online at the parish website. The event is a great evening of fun, food, and fundraising. Grab some friends and join us!
