As we continue on our Lenten journey, you may have noticed Lanny, Shannon, Megan and Gloria (pictured above with their sponsors and supporters) at various Masses as they prepare for the reception of sacraments during the Easter Vigil. The Elect (referred to as catechumens until the First Sunday of Lent) are those who are being received into the Catholic Church and will be baptized, confirmed and receive their First Communion. Candidates are those who were baptized and need to receive Confirmation and First Communion. According to the USCCB's website, "The days of Lent are the final Period of Purification and Enlightenment leading up to the Easter Vigil. Lent is a period of preparation marked by prayer, study, and spiritual direction for the Elect, and prayers for them by the parish communities." We continue to pray for those in our RCIA.
