Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on March 5

Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, March 5 and continues until the celebration of the Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday (April 17). The following are reminders an opportunities during the Lenten season at St. Thomas More.

Fasting and Abstinence
Ash Wednesday, March 5 and Good Friday, April 18, are days of abstinence from meat (for those who have reached their fourteenth birthday) and also days of fast. The day of fast is limited to one full meal and two small meals (for those between the ages of 18 and 59). All Fridays of the season of Lent are days of abstinence from meat. Fast and abstinence on the days prescribed should be considered a minimum response to the Lord’s call to penance and conversion.

Stations of the Cross
Prayer opportunities include children’s Stations of the Cross at 1:30 PM and Stations of the Cross at 6PM on the following Fridays: March 7, March 14, March 21, March 28, April 4 and April 11.
