Deacon Don Brandt let the annual Blessing of Animals in the parish parking lot following the vigil Mass on Oct. 3. Traditionally, the blessing occurs near the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, patron of animals.

Deacon Don read an excerpt from the book of Genesis followed by a short responsorial psalm and intercessions. After invoking the prayer of blessing over the animal present, he made his way through the crowd to bless each pet with holy water. Fr. Mike was also on hand to greet the faithful and say hi to the parish’s four-legged friends.
