From the corner office for May 16, 2021

From the corner office is Father Mike's weekly bulletin column.

Happy Easter Peace to you and your family! This week, there has been so much happening around the campus and the Holy Spirit has been busy working through us all. The Solemnity of the Lord recalls Jesus’ return to heaven and the start of our time now building the Church. The preschoolers were busy with their teachers “releasing the butterflies!” For their spring science project, they took the little bugs through the stages of their bug life and then set them free to fly! This grooming is no different than Jesus with the early church. The heavy work of the passion and death for our sins was completed. Jesus conquered death, then grooms the early disciples and apostles preaching of the mercy and love of God AND the Easter Peace! This is that phrase we have been sharing now for a few weeks.

The First Reading says, “Jesus did and taught until the day he was taken up…” This line makes me think of our parents and grandparents “doing and teaching us all” until their final days here with us.

The Second Reading invites us, praying, “May the eyes of your heart be enlightened…” [To see the mercy and love of God] so that we are all primed and ready for Jesus’s final instructions, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature. [!] It’s as simple as THAT! Let’s pray hard and ask the Holy Spirit to be with us as with our newly confirmed, that we can all keep it simple, and grow in our relationships!

Fr. Mike

75th Anniversary thoughts:

Did I mention, “There is a lot going on”? You may have noticed the construction signs stating “Building for Our Future” and this is very true. The additional sidewalks are being dug to help everyone out. I really want to see MORE strollers and wheelchairs coming to the church. We need to welcome all and will have greeters to help hold those doors wide open. It is all with the hard work of the staff, volunteers, generous benefactors, and each of you. I sincerely thank you for your support and help.

The 75th Anniversary plans are getting finalized with activities now planned into the fall. You’ll notice the new technology items which will help with education, adult formation, and (maybe even) watching movies or a game… Again, thank you for all your support to the Rooted in Faith campaign of the past and the 75th Anniversary Boost.
