From the corner office for June 20, 2021

From the corner office is Father Mike's weekly bulletin column

These summer lessons continue this week for us all. The daily readings, during the week, presented lessons from St. Paul writing to the Corinthians and the Gospel of Matthew. Simple lessons, but definitely ones worth re-reading and praying over. I (really do) pray that we are all continuing our prayer and study time – even during this summer break. Yes, it can be called “summer school”, but in the spiritual realm – it all helps, even more.

The readings for this, the Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time, finds the analogy of the storm, the water, the waves, and the fear of the peril of sinking. It is all something that we have all dealt with in our lives. That perfect storm of everything coming together to just drag us under. But as we read in Job or in Mark’s Gospel we have Jesus asking us, ‘Do you not yet have faith?’ (Jesus, it’s easier said, than done…)

But that is EXACTLY, what we are called to do – Have Faith! Paul continues talking about the duality of the flesh and spirt, so we are called to live in Christ; this same Christ who tells us to have faith. This week, let’s look at our personal storms, and listen to Jesus asking us to have faith. That will be the point where we will see our ‘Perfect Storms’ are really just a passing shower, so go and play in the puddles!

75th Anniversary thoughts:
Building for Our Future is the phrase we have been using since last fall. The CAUTION signs have been up for a few weeks now and the actual construction vehicles, supplies, and workers have been on our campus all week. The comment was made to me mid-week, “Father, this place is a zoo!” I replied back (naturally…) the Zoo is down the street, I would call this more of a Circus! So, whether you see yourself as a skilled trapeze artist, musician in the pit, clown playing around, or simply just a person watching from the bleachers as this all develops – know that it is all good and moving along.

This is all the ‘renewal of everything’ that has been very-much needed to keep us moving forward. I am glad to have been talking with those benefactors who are donating their time, energy, and treasures. Without all of your help these projects would not be possible. We will continue to help others with our charity, and we will be able to help our kids and those who will be coming after us. Soooo, PLEASE be sure to keep supporting the 75th Anniversary drives, the events, and the Raffle Tickets.

Parking Lot:
Sorry for the extra reading, but with the new sidewalks and work on the parking lot, we need to ask that you PLEASE – Do Not Park in the Fire Lanes or on the grass. Concerns are in regard to having room for emergency vehicles, and that people have mentioned problems with the tight space of the smaller lot. Thanks for your help.
