A letter from Father Mike regarding the school

Father Mike send the letter below to parishioners and school parents:

Dear school parents and parishioners,

May the blessings of Almighty God be with you and your families. At the beginning of June, we came together for a town hall meeting at which we discussed the future of our school. Today, it is with great joy that I share with you that Mrs. Nicole Dykstra will be the next principal of St. Thomas More School.

Nicole comes to us as a former principal at Hope Academy Northwest in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to working at Hope Academy, Nicole has also served in various administrative positions. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Ohio Wesleyan University, furthered her studies at Baldwin-Wallace College, and has a master’s degree in administration from Grand Canyon University. She and her husband, Joshua, have a nine year old named Jameson who is in fourth grade.

When asked what attracted her to our community, Nicole said it was “the focus on providing a well-rounded education to all students as well as the overall sense of community that is dedicated to the same mission and vision. Education is about working together for the betterment of our students, our families and our faith.”

We are all in this together, and I am confident that Nicole will help lead St. Thomas More School well into the future. During the process, Nicole made it clear her passion for Catholic education. I was drawn to her enthusiasm and desire to build a positive and effective school culture.

In addition, the search committee has been reviewing applications for the other open positions in our school and I can also happily announce that we have filled the positions of the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 8th grade teachers. We will share with you more about them in the coming weeks as we continue the interview and hiring process for the remaining positions.

I would like to extend a special thank you to those individuals who serve on our review committee. Without their hard work and help, this would not be possible. We mentioned at the town hall meeting in June, we will be doing great things in our community and this announcement continues us on that path. As you are aware, through a generous grant, the school now has an enrollment director to welcome new families to the community.

While we look forward to the new school year beginning in early September, I invite you all to join us over these summer months as the parish continues to celebrate its 75th anniversary. Our Summer Celebration will be on Sunday, Aug. 1 from 12pm until 5pm. We will also look for a time to come together to meet our entire parish and school staff.

Thank you again for your support and remember that together we are Building For Our Future!

Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Mike
