From the corner office is Father Mike's weekly bulletin column.
So, did you notice it? I’ll bet you are getting to the point of wondering what I am getting at or asking when I start out this column with a question, or end it with “homework”. Did you (or do you…) notice that all three readings this week are direct, bold and to the point? This will be the true test for the week, will the homily be the same?
We start out with the first reading from Daniel speaking of the Son of man coming and his dominion shall not be taken away. Basically, that the kingship is here and will never be taken away. The Second Reading from Revelation talks in that apocalyptic language, similar to last week. The kingship of Jesus continues! The final point is from the Gospel of John where we have that passage from the passion of Christ with Pilot questioning directly to Jesus on his kingship. This is where we now see the two kingdoms, what we may see as this world and the kingdom of heaven – in God’s glory, with all the saints. So, do we notice the kingship of Jesus and want to be in the kingdom with all the saints?

75th Anniversary thoughts:
The change of the seasons is bringing the “shifting gears” back to the fund raising, which (my main requirement) will be heavy on the “FUN” part of the fundraising…
The #weGiveCatholic 2021 fundraiser is a one-day event, which gathers donations through the online website, via phone to the rectory, and in person at the rectory. The means a donation can also be personal check, cash, or credit card. The goal is being set at $40k, since this was what we reached last year. We did not want to move it out of our reach, as the school families are also being asked to join in the fun! The funds will be helping for a very much needed – “Complete Make-Over” of the Utopia Hall area of the world. The hall, bathrooms, and kitchen area are in need of some TLC. This is an area that is used by the parish, school, and even friends of the community.
The other “fun” - fundraising events will include the PTU Night at the Races and Christmas Cash drawings. Again thank you to all the leaders of these different events and activities, and as well to all of you as parishioners looking to support St. Thomas More – and have FUN!
