News from the corner office for Dec. 19, 2021

From the corner office is Father Mike's weekly bulletin column.

Lord, make us turn to you…” This portion of the Responsorial Psalm has us asking to turn towards the Lord; to see the Lord’s face and be saved. Imagine if it would be this easy, to simply see the face of the Lord and be saved. We hear in the First Reading of the telling of how the Lord will stand firm to shepherd his flock. The Second Reading then asks not for sacrifices and offerings – but actions – doing God’s will… This is reflected in St. Luke’s reflection on Mary (doing what?) serving Elizabeth. Mary travels to be with Elizabeth, to help her and share this special time.

Let’s take time this final week of Advent to listen to the call of the Holy Spirit – to turn towards the Lord…

75th Anniversary thoughts:

This past Sunday I shared with those at the 9am Mass the good of this past year, which we as the parish of St. Thomas More need to recognize AND Rejoice in! The pink vestments may be back in the closet for a few months, but let us not stop rejoicing in the good that we have completed as a Family of Faith.

We can all look around the campus and see the physical progress, but we also need to look inward to see the spiritual growth and progress that we have made collectively and individually.

Again, let’s take time to reflect these final days of Advent on the gift that we share, as the parish of St. Thomas More.
