From the corner office for Feb. 13, 2022

From the corner office is Father Mike's weekly bulletin column.

The readings this week really do cover a whole lot of mileage… The First Reading begins with the Old Testament version of what is repeated in the Gospel reading from St. Luke. Both speaking of the trust in the Lord! St. Paul even links the two passages from Jerimiah and St. Luke with his bridge statement that Christ has been raised from the dead – and (in fact…) is the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. As Jesus tells us of the Blessed, he also gives us the woe(s). The good and the bad. We need to look this week at just that – the good and the bad – the Blessed and the Woe(s). The question is though, do we identify with the Blessed or the Woe side of this passage? If we do see ourselves more in the Woe-side, then trust even more and look towards the Blessed.

75th Anniversary thoughts:

It is hard to believe that the 75th Anniversary year is coming to a close, as it seems with the virus and the craziness of the year we really didn’t get the fullest chance to celebrate. But, we will be looking for more ways these coming months to “continue to celebrate”. We do need to keep in mind all that we have done this past year, as we did celebrate. The growth and fellowship that we have had was long overdue.

I will mention that we will be also starting to talk about Our Financial Future, both as a parish and individual families. We all know and see the challenges that we have upon us from differed-maintenance problems to increase in expenses. Hopefully, we’ll be able to keep things under control, but that will be a huge challenge we’ll all need to share in to complete.

Again, let us thank the Parish Pastoral Council, as well as the Parish Finance Council who have all been helpful in leading us through these past two years of transition. We are all growing together
