As Mass began, Father Mike escorted Father Vesely (the parish's 4th pastor) in procession. In his remarks, Father Mike shared that he had called and spoke with Father Vesely during the previous week and asked for his blessing as he [Father Mike] assumes his role as the parish's 6th pastor.

During the Rite of Installation, Father Mike pledged to seek counsel from the parish's pastoral and finance councils as well as the parish staff. In return, these bodies agreed to work with their new pastor for the good of the parish.

Just prior to the Eucharistic prayer, Father Mike's mother accompanied by Father John Singler, pastor of St. Mary in Berea, presented the bishop with a new chalice to bless for Father Mike.
