From the corner office for Feb. 27, 2022

From the corner office is Father Mike's weekly bulletin column.

Listen to what they talk about… Ever notice being at a social event or just in a conversation and you hear, I, I, I, me, I, me, ME & I… or Did you hear about…? We can often tell what is on a person’s mind or even in their heart by what the talk about. This is how we hear in the First Reading, “Praise no one before he speaks…” that once the person speaks we’ll know what’s in their heart and on their mind. St. Paul questions us about death and what is in our heart. This is important as we begin the season of Lent that we turn ourselves from sin and death – back towards God. The Gospel of Luke this week is where Jesus tells us that we need to help others and not judge them. We need to produce good fruit out of the goodness of our hearts. If we continue to talk about good things and do good things, people will see the good in our hearts. What have you been talking about lately?

Fr. Mike

75th Anniversary thoughts:

The 75th Anniversary Year events have continued this week with the visit of Bishop Malesic for the Rite of Installation. I am still getting use to the fact of being your pastor and truly have been very humbled this week. The many thanks will need to be covered with the staff, the volunteers, and the “special elves” of the Sisters who humbly do not like to be pointed out. It is with the example of their humility and service that I am inspired. The journey forward for all of us as a parish continues not only into Lent, but through our 75th Anniversary Year! We are all called to help each other grow closer to God. This Lent, let us take that step to actively turn back to God, as we bring others closer to God in their (our…) journey together - as St. Thomas More Parish.
