From the corner office for July 9, 2023

From the Corner Office is Father Mike’s weekly bulletin column.

This Fourteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time brings us well into the second half of the liturgical year. But simply, the week after the Fourth of July gives us that reality that our summer is more than half over. This is a very humbling realization, but then it also helps us to live out these readings for the week, to be humbled as we live in the spirit.

The Prophet Zechariah points us to a humble king, which is where St. Paul directs us to live in the Spirit (not the flesh). St. Paul urges us to live in the Spirit, and not of the flesh, so that we cannot be put to death, as “…you will live.” Jesus, wanting to share in our burdens to help us be humble, knows that we will all live in the Spirit. Let’s all live in the Spirit – the Holy Spirit, so that like the psalmist, we can ever sing to God, “…my king and my God.”[!]

From the Pastor’s Desk:

From looking at the Summer of Fun schedule and the various calendars, I see a bit of a low in the line-up of events, but this is only in the appearance. We have all been working towards the next “barrage” of events. We will be having the talks on our faith coming up this summer yet, and we are already planning special talks and events for the Eucharistic Revival.

Please keep in contact with not only your friends and family, but also “keep an eye on the parish bulletin, website, or email blasts” for the announcements. Stay TUNED IN!
