From the corner office for July 23, 2023

From the Corner Office is Father Mike's weekly bulletin column.

The Sixteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time specifically helps us this week to better explain the times we live in today. But do you reflect on these words being centuries old? That is why we refer to the Bible as the word of God and the LIVING Word of God…

The First Reading from the Book of Wisdom speaks of the lessons we learn from God directly. Being good and forgiving is what the psalmist sings of in the Lord. St. Paul tells the Romans, and all of us, of the Spirit interceding for us “…according to God’s will.” Jesus continues in teaching us of the fruitfulness which we are called to in our nature, but Jesus also adds on how we have those weeds among us. The story of the harvest speaks clearly of having the bad weeds growing with us all. Very timely, it can be said for us today. Let’s continue to be fruitful and not be weeds.

From the Pastor’s Desk:

The harvest and fruitfulness of this week is something that we are celebrating with our special Mass and cook-out. We are also taking time to thank all of our grandparents – and even GREAT-grandparents… You are blessed enough to see the fruits growing in your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren - but please “do not be hard on yourself” if things aren’t as you would like… You continue to love all of your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, we know you do. Let’s keep having fun with it all! This week we thank you and continue to assure you of all our prayers and gratitude for YOU! Thanks!
