From the Corner Office is Father Mike’s weekly bulletin column.
Last week we celebrated the Feast of the Transfiguration. This week we find ourselves in the Nineteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time. The First Reading has Elijah coming out of the cave to get a glimpse of, “…the Lord … passing by.” It was only in the, “…tiny whispering sound” that Elijah hid his face as he experienced God. St. Paul, in the Second Reading continues to tell the Romans that he is speaking the truth of Christ, and that we are blessed by God. The story of Jesus and the disciples in the boat might be one that we can all relate to in our lives. The stormy waves of our lives, taking those first steps towards Jesus, but then falling deeper into the waves of life… The question though is, do we reach-out to Jesus with faith, one that hears Jesus ask us, “… why do you doubt?” Maybe a question we need to keep asking ourselves!

From the Pastor’s Desk:
This week coming up will be a very busy week with the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the endless-work in the school as we get ready for the new school year, the continual Summer of Fun activities, and the start of the CYO sports seasons. That is all a lot right there when you look at it all… We will still be pushing for more engagement, more parents & kids who want to have fun, and more people inviting friends to join us all. See where you might find yourself in this whole-mix of parish life in Brooklyn here at St. Thomas More!
