From the corner office for Sept. 24, 2023

From the Corner Office is Father Mike’s weekly bulletin column.

The readings for this Twenty-Fifth Week of Ordinary Time are interesting, just as we look at the pages… The First and Second readings from Book of the Prophet Isaiah and the Letter of St. Paul to the Philippians are short compared to the Gospel reading. St. Matthew’s gospel passage is also similar to a passage we read a few weeks ago. SO, here is the catch – do you see how the landowner addresses the worker when there is the grumbling? The landowner addresses the worker as “My friend…” not as anything else but – my friend… Let’s just soak that one in, God addressing us all as “My friend…” Just hearing God use that statement towards us should be enough to take us into our week!

From the Pastor’s Desk:

Would I be the only one to say I want a reset button and I want to use it NOW… I’m thinking that it would be so nice to start summer over again and not only enjoy the different parish events, but how about the warm weather. Next Sunday will start us off in October time for the beautiful fall colors, with the activities moving inside soon. Thanks again to the teams who helped with the various Summer of Fun 2.0 events and the Parish Festival! Everything was great and worth looking forward to next year. Be sure to thank the volunteers and leaders…
