From the corner office for Nov. 5, 2023

From the Corner Office is Father Mike’s weekly bulletin column.

The passing of this week brought with it the passing of both our “All Saints” day and “All Souls” day celebrations. We, as a Church, remember the Saints who have gone before us and the Souls, small “s” saints, who have all passed before us. This is helpful to remember and reflect on, since the readings this week call us, as St. Paul says, “…we were determined to share with you not only the gospel of God, but our very selves as well…” Then Jesus speaks of the scribes and Pharisees preaching but not “doing” what they preach. Those who we have remembered and (continue, to) remember have given to us all their example, and their preaching of the gospel of God by the example of their lives. We need to continue to reflect on their lives, and live our lives – even that much better in the reflection that we are of Christ in our lives now…

From the Pastor’s Desk:

The movement deeper into the Fall season not only brings the change of the weather, the change of the clocks, and the change of gears – as we are now reminded “by the big box stores” of what is coming around the corner. But let’s work hard to keep grounded in our lives and by being examples to others, our family, children, neighbors, and strangers. We need to continue to “Love God and our Neighbor” – throughout the year. We will have more opportunities to extend ourselves towards and for others. If you feel called to volunteer, minister, or simply “just help out” either here at the parish or outside – please do so. We will continue to ask for help, here at the parish, so keep us in mind if you’d like to minister to others via the choir, greeters, or however you would like to “step into the mix”.
