From the corner office for Dec. 31, 2023

From the Corner Office is Father Mike’s weekly bulletin column.

“Okay, but before you leave for a bit…” We can probably imagine that with these readings and this the Feast of The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph that we will get a firm foundation of family life – specifically HOLY Family life, but then we see the quick Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord is followed by the Baptism of the Lord. The passage from the Book of Sirach talks of our need to honor our parents, as St. Paul moves into family life in the Lord after we sing in the Psalm Response that we should walk in the Lord’s ways. It is in the Gospel of St. Luke, that we hear of the presentation of Jesus in the temple before Mary and Joseph with Jesus returned to Galilee… St. Luke writes, “The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him.” Imagine our own holy families living in the Lord in such a way so that we can then grow into being HOLY Families…

From the Pastor’s Desk:

The Christmas Season continues still yet towards the Epiphany of the Lord, before moving into Ordinary Time. We need to continue to thank all the decorators, the organizers, the ministers, and everyone helping out this season. The amazing thought to remember is that every one of these helpers are VOLUNTEERS! We thank them for giving of their time, talents, and treasures to make the church and all of our prayer time this Christmas Season special – Thank you all, again!
