All students in grades one through eight are screened in Math and Reading prior to admission. Screenings take place at St. Thomas More School and are administered by a member of our faculty. All Kindergarten applicants are screened as part of their admission process. These screenings usually take place in April.
Students applying for admission to usually spend a “shadow day” at St. Thomas More School. These visits allow the students to experience the academic, religious, athletic, and social aspects of a day at St. Thomas More School.
St. Thomas More is a Catholic Elementary School primarily intended to provide a quality Catholic education. The admissions guidelines of St. Thomas More School are in accordance with the student acceptance regulations of the Diocese of Cleveland.
In all cases, admission of students to St. Thomas More School will be made only in those cases where the student’s needs can be met. A class limit may be reached when the school cannot provide for the social, moral or educational growth of a student and admittance may be refused.
Decisions regarding the admission of students to St. Thomas More School will be made primarily after reviewing transcripts, report cards and testing scores; however, the pastor and principal reserve the right to digress from these guidelines where special concerns are factors. Acceptance is given to students in grades two through eight only after an interview with the parents.
Applications: Applications for grades one through eight may be obtained by calling the school office at (216) 749-1660 or via email. Kindergarten applications for the upcoming school year are available beginning the first week in January and thereafter from the school office.
